Why the name “Il Cerchio”?
We have always been passionately interested in Native Americans. In many of their cultures the symbol of the circle is of great importance: it represents unity, the cyclical aspect of life, the connection between all living things, and the interdependence of human beings and nature. The symbol of our winery derives from this concept: a minimalist circle to emphasise humanity’s respect for nature, of which we are an integral part. On our labels, the circle sits above simplified lines that represent the hills we can see from our vineyard.
Since 1988 when Il Cerchio was founded, we’ve been farming organically as a conscious act of respect for the land that sustains us and for the health of the people who live there. At a time when organic logos hadn’t been invented, we started using organic fertilisers and non-systemic treatments only, employing copper and sulphur in limited quantities; we have always dealt with weeds by mechanical means, and we use green manure to enrich the soil between the rows of vines.

Grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, in small crates and are carefully selected in the vineyard before further sorting in the cellar and before vinification.
Vinification is done the traditional way, with long maceration for reds, and short, temperature-controlled pre-fermentation maceration for whites.

And the result of all this loving care?
Authentic wines that reflect the essence of our land and harmony with the environment, in a perfect circle of sustainability and passion.
